(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a number of charges over the weekend.

On June 13, 2025, at around 8:20 pm, police where conducting speed enforcement on George Street in the Municipality of Brighton. An officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling at 107 Km/h in a posted 50.

The driver, a 26-year-old male, from Trenton was charged with:

  • Drive motor vehicle -perform stunt - excessive speed
  • Speeding

His driving licence was suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.

While dealing with the driver, the passenger exited the vehicle and began yelling at the officer.

The 29-year-old male, also from Trenton, was arrested and charged with:

  • Being intoxicated in a public place

Both are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

On June 14, 2025, shortly after 3:00 am, officers responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe. OPP arrived at the location where a damaged guard rail was observed and a damaged passenger vehicle was on the road.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were requested by police as the driver was believed to have sustained minor injuries.

Officers then began an impaired operation and the driver was taken into custody to undergo further tests.

Joshua BROUILLARD (36), from Ajax, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

On June 14, 2025, shortly after 6:00 pm, police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Racetrack Road and Harwood Road in the Township of Hamilton. The road was closed as EMS and the Fire Department also attended the location.

All involved parties attended a location hospital as a precaution and injuries can be described as non-life-threatening.

OPP entered into an impaired operation investigation and arrested one of the drivers involved.

As a result, Jayson MEYER (19), from Hastings, was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
