(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) - There have been two incidents of Emergency Call Fraud, also known as “swatting”, in Haldimand County during the past two days.
Members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence on Haldimand Road 53 near Jarvis on September 2, 2025, at approximately 8:10 pm to a report of a bomb threat.
At approximately 1:35 pm, on today’s date, Haldimand OPP responded to a similar report at a local school, causing the school to go into lockdown.
In each of these cases, after police and other emergency resources attended, it was determined that the information provided by the caller was false and no actual emergency existed.
Placing a false call to report an emergency is a criminal offence under the Criminal Code of Canada.
