INCIDENT AT HOSPITAL RESULTS IN CHARGES

Four Criminal Charges Laid

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) respond to incident at local hospital, resulting in an arrest and laying four criminal charges.

On August 30, 2025, at approximately 11:00 am, the Wellington County OPP received a report of an incident at a local hospital within Centre Wellington Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old of Fergus was charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

• Assault with a weapon
• Forcible confinement (two counts)
• Public Mischief

The victim received minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the accused is not being disclosed out of concern for their wellbeing, and to protect the identity of the victim.

This was an isolated event, and there is no threat to public safety.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on October 7, 2025.
