(MEAFORD, ON) - A Port Elgin resident is charged following a weapons call in Meaford on July 22, 2025.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at approximately 3:43 pm, The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a male in possession of a suspected firearm at the Meaford Harbour.

Officers located the individual near a children’s recreational area. The individual complied with police demands and was taken into custody without incident. Following the arrest, the item in question was determined to be a replica airsoft handgun.

Robert JUNIPER 32-year-old from Port Elgin has been charged with the following offences:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking - CC
  • Possession of break-in instruments - CC
  • Being intoxicated in a public place - LLCA
  • Having liquor in open container in unauthorized place - LLCA

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 23, 2025.
