INDIVIDUAL CHARGED AFTER ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION IN KIRKLAND LAKE


(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - Members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual following an attempted abduction of a child.

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 12:35 pm, officers responded to a report of an attempted child abduction in the parking lot of a store on Government Road in Kirkland Lake.

It was reported that an individual had approached a mother and child and attempted to gain access to the vehicle occupied by the child. The mother was able to secure the vehicle door, preventing entry, and the suspect fled the scene.

Upon police arrival, officers launched an investigation and later located the individual nearby.

As a result, Patricia GALLICHAN-RULE, a 38-year-old from Bonfield Township, was charged with:

  • Abduction of person under 14 - take or entice
  • Resist peace officer

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Friday, July 25, 2025.
