(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an incident at Warkworth Institution.

On June 24, 2025, OPP received a report of threats made by an inmate toward a Corrections Officer at Warkworth Institution. The incident occurred on June 16.

Following an investigation, a warrant was issued and the individual was charged on July 22.

A 38-year-old male inmate at Warkworth Institution has been charged with:

• Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm

The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
