(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers responded to a cottage in Tay Valley Township on Thursday, August 7, 2025, just after 12:30 am The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 74-year-old man from Ottawa.

The male has been charged with:

• Assault with a weapon - two counts
• Assault
• Mischief
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
