INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE IN WELLINGTON COUNTY
(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) - Police responded to two incidents of intimate partner violence within Wellington County over the weekend.
On January 3, 2026, at approximately 11:00 am, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a disturbance inside a vehicle within Guelph-Eramosa Township from a concerned member of the public.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Cambridge, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault - spousal
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
Additionally, on January 4, 2026, at approximately 1:30 am, members of the Wellington OPP responded to the report of a disturbance at an address in Mapleton Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old from Guelph, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault - spousal
- Mischief - destroys or damages property
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
