(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - The Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is assisting with the evacuation of residents and businesses on Government Road W between Water Lane and Lebel Avenue in Kirkland Lake following a reported gas leak.

As a precautionary measure, individuals are being relocated from the immediate area of concern. This is not a full-scale evacuation, but a safety step to ensure public wellbeing while emergency services address the situation.

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at approximately 9:10 am, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment were notified of a gas leak near Main Street. The public is advised to avoid Government Road W between Water Lane and Lebel Avenue.

Local emergency services, including the gas provider, fire and ambulance services, are also in the area assisting with the incident. Some areas are experiencing power outages, and crews are working to resolve the situation. The public is advised to follow the directives of officers at the scene as heavy police presence remains in the area.
