LANARK OPP MAKES ARREST AFTER TWO ROBBERIES IN CARLETON PLACE
(CARLETON PLACE, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an individual following two robberies in Carleton Place.
Officers with the Lanark County OPP were called to a business on Franktown Road just before 3:00 am on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. A man entered the business, threatened the employee and fled with cigarettes. With the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team members, the accused was located and arrested. Officers also seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.
The investigation found the accused was also the subject of an arrest warrant for a similar offence that occurred on Christmas Day in Carleton Place.
John MCDONALD, 38-years-old from Carleton Place, is charged with:
- Armed robbery - two counts
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Fail to comply with release order - two counts
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused was remanded in custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
