(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a knife-related incident that resulted in serious injuries to a Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) officer.  

On Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 5:00 am, Manitoulin OPP officers responded to a request for assistance from WTPS regarding an incident on Andrew Crescent in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory.

A WTPS officer sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident and was transported to hospital by Ornge air ambulance. 

Two individuals have been arrested as a result. There is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS), the United Chief and Councils of Manitoulin Police Service Commission (UCCM) officers and UCCM Canine.
