(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, at approximately 1:00 pm, a traffic stop for speeding led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may be under the influence of alcohol and cannabis.

An Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) was administered, the driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing, which resulted in charges being laid.

Cameron KIMMETT, age 23, from Trenton, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1 - 49km over posted limit
  • Fail to notify change of address
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in public place
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their license suspended for 90 days.
