MOTORIST CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(QUINTE WEST, ON) - The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On October 13, 2025, at approximately 01:30 pm, a traffic stop led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may be under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing, which resulted in charges being laid.

Eric KONING, age 29, from Trenton, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Obstruct plate

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their license suspended for 90 days.
