MULTIPLE CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP IN KENORA
(KENORA, ON) - An early morning traffic stop has resulted in Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act charges for a Kenora resident.
On January 16, 2026, at approximately 10:30 am, officers from the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Fifth Avenue South in the City of Kenora. The driver failed to yield to traffic, nearly causing a collision, prompting officer to initiate the stop.
As a result of the investigation, 38‑year‑old Luke LINKLATER has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences:
- Drive motor vehicle - no license
- Fail to yield to traffic on through highway
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
The accused’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on February 23, 2026.
