NORTHUMBERLAND OPP INVESTIGATES FATAL COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 401 IN CRAMAHE

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - One individual has been pronounced deceased after a collision on Highway 401 in the Township of Cramahe.

On Saturday, January 3, 2026, at approximately 10:40 pm, officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Cochrane Road.

It was reported that a pedestrian had been struck and a vehicle had been parked closed to the median in the westbound lanes.

As a result, a 22-year-old male from Chatham, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Highway 401 between Big Apple Drive and County Road 30 was closed for the investigation, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members. All lanes have since reopened as of approximately 5:00 am on January 4.
