(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - A proactive traffic stop by an officer led to an individual being charged with driving-related offences and drug possession.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at approximately 7:52 pm, an officer from the Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop and initiated an investigation on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe.
After interacting with the driver, the individual was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected fentanyl.
As a result, 25-year-old Matthew ACUNA of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, - Possession of a Schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin), - Fail to surrender licence, - Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, - Fail to surrender insurance card
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
