(DESERONTO, ON) - One person has been charged, and arrest warrants have been issued for three others in connection with a serious assault in Deseronto.

On Friday, May 16, 2025, just after 4:00 am, officers with the Lennox and Addington County (LAC) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence. One person was transported to hospital by Lennox and Addington County Paramedics with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is believed to be no public safety risk.

As a result of an investigation by the L&A OPP Crime Unit, arrest warrants were issued for four people.

On Wednesday, June 11, 20205, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Old Highway-2 in east-end Belleville. One person was arrested.

Jean LEGAULT, age 55 of Belleville is charged with:

• Aggravated assault
• Assault
• Assault with a weapon
• Forcible confinement - two counts
• Intimidation
• Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm - two counts
• Uttering threats to damage or injure an animal - two counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

• Forcible confinement - two counts
• Intimidation - two counts
• Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm - two counts
• Uttering threats to damage or injure an animal - two counts
• Fail to comply with a probation order - two counts
• Kerry WEEKS, age 63 of Marmora and Lake Township for:
• Aggravated assault
• Assault
• Assault with a weapon
• Forcible confinement - two counts
• Intimidation - two counts
• Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm - two counts
• Uttering threats to damage or injure an animal - two counts
