ONE PERSON CHARGED AND STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED


(WEST NIPISSING, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person and recovered a stolen trailer, after conducting a traffic stop.

On Monday November 3, 2025, at approximately 3:30 am, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle towing a trailer on Dutrisac Road, West Nipissing.

The vehicle attempted to flee from police but overturned the trailer when making a turn. The trailer was found to be stolen and the driver was arrested. A search of the vehicle located a small amount of drugs suspected to be crack cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, Scott SMITH, 36 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:

  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday December 4, 2025, in North Bay.
