(SUDBURY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a head-on collision, which resulted in the death of one person

On Friday June 13, 2025, at approximately 1:15 am, members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision, involving two Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) on Highway 17, Sudbury.

One driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the second driver was transported by EMS to the local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway remains closed in both directions from Highway 69 junction and Regional Road 55 (Kingsway) for the investigation and removal of the CMV’s.

The OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team are assisting with the investigation, to determine the cause of the collision.
