(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - On August 19, 2025, at approximately 6:12 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an individual entering vehicles at night in the Town of Chesley. While investigating the initial complaint, police learned of numerous incidents involving the same individual over approximately a 3-year period.

Officers spoke with numerous residents and obtained grounds for several offences taking place in the Chesley area. On August 31, 2025, the individual was arrested after a lengthy engagement with police, bringing a large police presence to a residence along 1st Avenue North in Chesley. Members of the South Bruce OPP, OPP Canine, Crisis Negotiators, and the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) were involved.

Between multiple incidents, Derek SEIP, 31-years-old, resident of Chesley, has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with probation order, CC 733.1(1) - 9 counts
  • Fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a) - 4 counts
  • Fail to comply with undertaking, CC 145(4)(a)
  • Mischief, CC 430(1)(c) - 8 counts
  • Trespassing at night, CC 177 - 3 counts
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, CC 88
  • Utter threats, CC 264.1(1)(a) - 2 counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing on August 31, 2025, and subsequently remanded into custody.
