OPERATION ‘TRICK OR TREAT’ IN HALDIMAND COUNTY
(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) - The Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be on area roads and highways as part of “Operation Trick or Treat” this Halloween weekend.
The campaign is a traffic initiative being conducted by members of Haldimand OPP and the West Region Highway Safety Division.
This campaign is essential to achieve safer streets and highways and is aimed at promoting public compliance with road safety laws through high-visibility enforcement and education.
“Operation Trick or Treat”, will run from Friday, October 31 until Sunday, November 2, 2025, and will focus on the leading driving behaviours that contribute to death, injury and property damage on our roads and highways:
- Impaired driving due to alcohol, drugs, and fatigue
- Speeding/aggressive driving
- Distracted/inattentive driving
- Non-use of occupant restraints
In addition to enforcement, a public education component will highlight the importance of responsible driving behaviour, especially during heightened pedestrian traffic on Halloween night and reinforce the ongoing nature of these efforts beyond the weekend.
