(ETOBICOKE, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Toronto Detachment is appealing to the public for witnesses and information following a fatal collision on Highway 401 eastbound near Dixon Road in Etobicoke.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 1:15 am, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) truck.

As a result of the collision, one individual that was ejected from the passenger vehicle was taken to hospital and later pronounced deceased. Two other individuals from the passenger vehicle and one individual from the MTO vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 19-year-old from Vaughan, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Dangerous operation causing death

The OPP continues to investigate this incident and believe that other vehicles may have been involved and racing just prior to the collision.
