(NORTH BAY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one person in relation to a historical sexual assault in M’Chigeeng First Nation.

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Little Current OPP received information regarding a sexual assault that occurred in M’Chigeeng First Nation between 2010 and 2025.

As a result of the investigation, a 62-year-old of M’Chigeeng First Nation was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled drugs and Substances Act offences:

  • Sexual assault with a weapon - three counts
  • Sexual assault
  • Communicate with anyone for purpose of obtaining sexual services
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance - methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance - cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance - other drugs

The name of the accused it being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on a later date.
