OPP CHARGE DRIVER AFTER COLLISION ON HWY 17
(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) - The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a collision closed a section of Highway 17 for several hours.
On December 2, 2025, just after 9:30 am, OPP officers were called to a collision involving a Tractor trailer and a dump truck. The collision happened at the intersection of Highway 17 and Whitewater Road. Both drivers were transported to hospital with minor injuries. The Highway was closed for several hours to allow for cleanup as the dump truck spilled the load of soil.
The driver of the dump truck was charged with fail to stop for a red light under the Highway Traffic Act.
Highway 17 reopened at approximately 2:00 pm
