(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) - The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged six people with impaired driving throughout the month of July
On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at approximately 7:00 pm, the OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Deer Lake Road, in Perry Township. As a result, Katie MCNAUGHTON, 32 years-old, of Emsdale was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol (80 plus)
On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at approximately 11:30 pm, the OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Montreal Avenue, in South River. As a result, Alexander SANGSTER, 43 years-old, of South River was arrested and charged with the following:
- Dangerous operation
- Operation while impaired - alcohol (80 plus)
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 10:30 am, the OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11, in Perry Township. As a result, Amrutbhai PATEL, 57 years-old, of Windsor, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol (80 plus)
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at approximately 7:00 pm, the OPP responded to an unconscious person on Highway 592, in Perry Township. As a result, Jan HOGENKAMP, 78 years-old, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - drugs.
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at approximately 9:30 pm, the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11, Perry Township. As a result, Connor HESSE, 32 years-old, of Armour, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - alcohol (80 plus).
On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at approximately 11:30 pm, the OPP conducted a traffic stop at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) program, on Highway 11, in Burk’s Falls. As a result, Christopher WILLIAMS, 67 years-old, of Emsdale, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol (80 plus)
All the drivers were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and their vehicles were impounded.
The accused are all scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, at a later date.
During this time, the Almaguin Highlands OPP also issued one three-day suspension.
