OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION AT THE BLUE WATER BRIDGE
(POINT EDWARD, ON) - One individual is deceased following a collision at the Bluewater Bridge in Point Edward.
On January 7, 2026, shortly after 8:00 am, the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Point Edward Fire Department and Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a report of a collision in the west bound lanes of Highway 402 at the Bluewater Bridge.
A 60-year-old individual from London was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Multiple west-bound lanes at the Bluewater Bridge are closed. The road closure is expected to remain in place for several hours to allow for the investigation. Significant delays are expected while crossing the Bluewater bridge and Lambton OPP are requesting the motoring public to be patient while the investigation is on going.
Members of the Lambton OPP continue to investigate the collision with the assistance from the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team.
