(IGNACE, ON) - A motorcycle rider has died following a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17, west of Ignace.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, shortly before 12:00 pm, members of the Ignace Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and paramedics were called to the scene in Ilsley township after multiple witnesses reported seeing a motorcycle leave the roadway and enter the ditch along the eastbound lane at a high rate of speed.

The rider, a 60-year-old male from Kentucky, USA, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the OPP’s North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team responded to assist with the investigation, resulting in the full closure of Highway 17 between Highway 622 and Ignace for several hours.
