OPP INVESTIGATING SHOOTING INCIDENT IN CALEDON

Three People Injured, Four Individuals in Custody

(CALEDON, ON) - The Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a shooting incident in Caledon.  

On Saturday, August 23, 2025, at approximately 5:15 am, members of the Caledon Detachment responded to reports of gunshots at a residence on Finnerty Side Road. In response to the incident, a shelter-in-place advisory was temporarily issued, and roads were closed in the surrounding area. 

Several specialised units were deployed to the area, including the OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team and the Tactics and Rescue Unit. OPP Aviation Services assisted with aerial support, while crisis negotiators and other officers were actively engaged in the response. Other emergency services were also at the scene to ensure public safety and support operational needs. 

Three individuals with gunshot wounds were located and have been transported to hospital, one of whom is in serious but non-life-threatening condition, while the two others sustained minor injuries. Four individuals were taken into custody following the preliminary investigation. Investigators believe additional suspects remain at large.

The OPP urges the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to the police. This investigation remains ongoing, and more information will be released when available. Residents of the area should expect to continue to see an increased police presence.
