OPP LAYS MURDER CHARGE IN ONIGAMING FIRST NATION
(ONIGAMING, ON) - One person has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in relation to a death investigation in Onigaming First Nation.
On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Treaty Three Police Service (T3PS), with assistance from the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a call for service at a residence in Onigaming First Nation. An individual was located in medical distress and subsequently pronounced deceased.
The deceased has been identified as Elijah INDIAN, 27 years old of Onigaming First Nation. A postmortem examination will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) in Toronto.
As a result of the investigation, Darryl BEACHAM JR., 23 years old of Onigaming First Nation, was arrested and charged with second degree murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
There is no threat to public safety. Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.
