(TORONTO, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division - Toronto Detachment are investigating a fatal multi-vehicle collision that occurred early this morning on Highway 401 in Toronto.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, shortly after 5:00 am, officers attended the scene of a collision on Highway 401. There was an initial collision involving a tractor trailer and an SUV. Following the initial collision, the driver of the SUV exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck in a secondary incident involving another vehicle.
The driver of the SUV, a 77-year-old male from Mississauga, was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Two other individuals were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
At this time, Highway 401 eastbound lanes from Eglinton Avenue to Dixon Road will be closed for several hours for the investigation.
Emergency Medical Services, local fire services, Ministry of Transportation, and OPP-HSD Traffic Support Unit are assisting officers of HSD -Toronto Detachment with the ongoing investigation.
