(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) - The Haldimand County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking assistance from the public in locating a missing boater on Lake Erie.
At approximately 11:58 pm on Friday, July 4, 2025, Haldimand County OPP officers, with support from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), the Canadian Coast Guard, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), responded to a report of a missing boater who had last been seen entering Lake Erie from Port Maitland around 4:00 pm that day.
Shortly before 2:00 am on Saturday, July 5, 2025, the boater’s vessel was located approximately 500 metres offshore near Featherstone Point. Search efforts to locate the boater, 74-year-old William “Stan”, remain ongoing.
William is described as:
- Caucasian male
- 5’8” tall with a heavy build
- Balding with grey hair
- Last seen wearing a white shirt and dark pants
- May be wearing a blue lifejacket
