OPP SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN ROBBERY INVESTIGATION
(ESSEX, ON) - The Essex Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a robbery and is asking for the public’s assistance.
On Sunday September 7th at approximately 1500hrs, a male victim walking near Fox Street and Russell Street in Leamington was reportedly robbed by suspects in a light blue coloured Volkswagen SUV. The vehicle is believed to be a 2024 Volkswagen Taos Highline.
A male driver and a female passenger with a baby in the back seat pulled up beside the victim, offered him a new set of wireless earbuds then asked him to come in the vehicle to pray in private. The victim entered the front passenger seat, was asked by the suspect for gas money, then the suspect snatched his wallet and took $300 in cash. A struggle ensued and the victim was able to exit the vehicle.
Male Suspect Driver is described as a heavier set white male, 35-40 years old, with short white hair (almost bald), a tattoo on his right arm, and wearing several necklace chains.
Investigators are seeking to identify the male, and are releasing an image of the person involved.
