OPP Vessel Check on Six Mile Lake Nets Drinking and Boating Investigation for Bradford Area Resident
(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON)- A vessel check on the afternoon of August 9, 2025 on Six Mile Lake caused members of the marine unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment to enter into a drinking and driving investigation of a Newmarket area resident.
Officers on general patrol in the area of Lost Channel at approximately 2:50 pm were conducting vessel checks ensuring vessels were properly equipped with safety equipment and checking for impaired operators when they checked a beige/blue coloured Sea Doo.
While checking the vessel, officers entered into a drinking and driving investigation with the vessel operator which resulted in a 18 year old male from Whitechurch-Stouffville registering a “fail” result on the roadside screening device and was transported to detachment for further breath tests.
As a result of this investigation, the individual was issued a 3-Day drivers licence suspension as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines as well as a number of Provincial offences tickets for a number of Canada Shipping Act violations.
