Ottawa OPP Charge Teen After Street Racing Gathering Turns Dangerous  

(OTTAWA, ON) - Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual from Ottawa with dangerous and racing related charges.  

On August 22, 2025, around 23:10 hrs, officers with the OPP aerial unit, observed a large gathering of vehicles, including sport bikes, in the area of Moodie Drive, Altiplano, and Dibblee Road, Ottawa. One vehicle was seen doing burnouts/fishtailing, followed by several cars engaging in drag racing. A vehicle failed to stop for police and attempted to flee. The vehicle struck two officers. No serious injuries were reported. The driver of the fleeing vehicle was tracked by officers and later stopped by Ottawa OPP.

Pramod PERSAD, 19 years old, of Ottawa, faces the following charges: 

  • Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon (two counts)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Race a Motor Vehicle
  • Perform Stunt
  • Obstruct Plate
  • Fail to Display Two Plates
  • Colour Coating Obscuring Interior
  • Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available

Persad is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice, in Ottawa at a later date. As a result of the charges, the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for fourteen days.
