OXFORD OPP OFFICER ASSAULTED DURING INCIDENT
(INGERSOLL, ON) - An individual has been charged after an incident in Ingersoll where an officer was assaulted.
On January 2, 2025, at approximately 5:00 am, members of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment were dispatched to a disturbance at an address on Albert Street, in the Town of Ingersoll.
The responding officers interacted with one of the persons involved which resulted in that person assaulting one of the responding officers.
Shane Virley, 37-years-old, of Ingersoll, was charged with: Assault a Peace Officer
There were no reported injuries sustained because of the assault.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on March 3, 2026.
