(RUSSELL TWP, ON) - Members of the Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to reports of a fire at a residence over the past weekend.

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at approximately 01:55 am, members of the Russell County OPP were dispatched to a fire at a residence on Herbert Street in Russell Township. The Nation Township Fire Services were already on scene battling the fire. 

The fire was brought under control quickly; however, the residence sustained significant damage as a result of both the fire and the water used in suppression efforts. The OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM) also attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
