POLICE RESPOND TO MEDICAL EMERGENCY RESULTING IN THREE VEHICLE COLLISION ON QEW

(BURLINGTON, ON) - Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) - Burlington Detachment are investigating a medical emergency which resulted in a three-vehicle collision and the death of one of the involved drivers.

At 6:45 pm on Sunday, August 31, 2025, reports were received of a collision involving three vehicles on the eastbound QEW highway near Walkers Line in the City of Burlington. Emergency services attended the scene and one of the drivers, a 40-year-old male from Toronto, the lone occupant of his vehicle, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was subsequently declared deceased at the hospital.

The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured and remained on scene.

The highway and various ramps in the area were closed for approximately 2 hours for the collision investigation and cleanup.

The investigation is ongoing, and the driver may have experienced a medical emergency that caused the collision. No charges are expected.
