(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) - The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking public assistance in connection with a significant theft of copper wire from a construction yard in the area of Hawn Drive, New Liskeard.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 2:45 pm, officers responded to a report of a theft that had occurred sometime between Sunday, July 6, 2025 and Friday, July 11, 2025. Upon arrival, police learned that a substantial quantity of copper wire had been removed from heavy machinery stored in the rear of a construction yard, including multiple rock crushers and conveyors.

Preliminary estimates placed the value of the stolen materials at over $40,000. The total loss is expected to be higher once repair costs and machinery downtime are factored in.
