RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS DESTROYED BY FIRE


(HAWKESBURY, ON) - Members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been called in to assist at a significant fire at a residential construction site.

On Monday, August 18, 2025, at approximately 10:00 am, Hawkesbury OPP attended an address on Nelson Street East, where a fire started in a building under construction. Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution. As a result, two structures were destroyed. No one was injured.

Fire crews remain at the scene and the area around Nelson Street East remains blocked off.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not considered to be suspicious.

Hawkesbury OPP, the Town of Hawkesbury, and fire crews from Hawkesbury, the Township of Champlain, and Grenville, Quebec, assisted in the effort.
