RIDE CHECK LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES
(OTTAWA, ON) - Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa after the driver went through a RIDE check.
Shortly before 1:30 am on November 20, Ottawa OPP members were conducting a RIDE check on Castlefrank Road. A vehicle approached the RIDE check and the driver showed signs of being impaired by alcohol. A roadside screening device was utilized and the driver was brought back to Ottawa Detachment for further testing.
As a result, Gobind BHANDARI, 25 years of age, faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol content (80 plus)
The accused also had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused is set to appear in an Ontario court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.
