SERIOUS COLLISION CAUSES CHEMICAL SPILL


(STRATHROY, ON) - Members of the Middlesex Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a serious collision involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle on Highway 402 westbound at Centre Road, that caused a slow leak of a chemical.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2025, just after 1:00 pm, a collision occurred on the highway that resulted in a leak from a tractor trailer carrying approximately 45,000 litres of acid. The public is advised to stay away from the affected area until further notice.

The material involved in the spill is potentially hazardous and may pose a threat to public health and safety. Motorists are asked to exercise caution when driving in the area and follow detours.

Highway 402 is closed westbound from Centre Road to Kerwood Road until Thursday morning to facilitate the cleanup.
