(AUGUSTA TWP., ON) - A single vehicle collision, which saw a tractor trailer leave the 401 and drive into the ditch, has resulted in impaired driving charges.

Officers with the Grenville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene along the westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Augusta Township around 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The driver, who was not injured, was arrested and transported to the Brockville Police Service for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Sukhjinder Singh GILL, age 39 of Brampton, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired-blood concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving a vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driving a vehicle with an open container of liquor

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on December 12, 2025. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The transport was left in the ditch overnight to ensure it could be removed safely today.
