(OTTAWA, ON) - The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following a single-vehicle collision in Ottawa.

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, shortly after 6:00 pm, officers from the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Highway 417 when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Shortly after, the vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle collision on Star Top Road. Two vehicle occupants were transported to local hospital.

Star Top Road was closed for several hours while members of the Ottawa Police Service along with the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team assisted with the investigation. The roadway has since reopened.
