(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has recovered a stolen vehicle and charged two individuals.

On September 29, 2025, at approximately 6:20 am, police responded to a report of a tractor-trailer believed to have been stolen from Cornwall and travelling westbound on Highway 401 from Belleville.

OPP attempted to stop the vehicle, but it failed to comply and exited the highway at County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe.

Officers were at the location shortly after the driver stopped the vehicle spanning the roadway.

Two persons fled on foot and both were taken into custody shortly afterwards.

The OPP Canine Unit (K9) was dispatched to assist with a search of the vehicle.

As a result, Gurmanveer SINGH (25) from Caledon, has been charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - two counts
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Resist peace officer

Anshdeep KANG (21) from Caledon, has been charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession break in instruments
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - two counts
  • Resist peace officer

Both accused were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
