(QUINTE WEST, ON) - One person is facing charges after a stolen vehicle was recovered on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in South Dundas.

On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, shortly after 4:00 pm, a member of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for operating a with a suspended licence.

The officer determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen in the Peel Region and that the licence plates were fakes.

James YONG, age 62 of the Toronto area has been charged with:

  • Theft of a vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Trafficking in stolen good over $5000
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Obstructing a licence plate
  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Failing to comply with a probation order

The accused was remanded in custody following a bail hearing on Thursday, December 18, 2025, and is scheduled to appear again before the Ontario court of Justice in Cornwall on Friday, December 19, 2025.
