(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made an arrest after a vehicle was identified as being stolen.

On Wednesday October 22, 2025, just prior to 11:30pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer on general patrol was alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) in their cruiser that a vehicle in the vicinity was a stolen vehicle. The officer proceeded in the direction the vehicle had traveled and caught up to it as it had come to stop at a construction site on Highway 7 in Asphodel-Norwood. The officer approached the vehicle advising the driver that they were under arrest. 

Matthew RIVERA (age 33) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with;

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Drive motor vehicle - no licence

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
