(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen vehicle and arresting the suspect shortly thereafter and recovering the stolen vehicle.

 On June 28, 2025, at approximately 2:45 pm, members of the Wellington County OPP were made aware of a stolen vehicle within Wellington County, which was initially originating from a neighbouring jurisdiction. The victim was able to advise where their stolen vehicle was due to a GPS (Global Positioning System) / Bluetooth tracking device that they had left in the vehicle.

Due to this system, officers were able to attend the pin-point location and search the area for the stolen vehicle.

As a result of the investigation and swift actions by uniform members of the OPP, Rodney LAROCHE, a 20-year-old from Montreal, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000- in Canada
• Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
• Fail to comply with Probation Order
• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The stolen vehicle was recovered.
