STUNT DRIVER CHARGED

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Listowel resident with stunt driving, after being observed going 70+ over the posted speed limit.

On August 5, 2025, at approximately 2:30 am, members of the Wellington County OPP were performing a traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Wellington Road 9, within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 66-year-old from Listowel is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed

Anyone charged with ‘drive motor vehicle - perform stunt’ receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court - Guelph, at a later date
