SUSPICIOUS PERSON CALL LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING INVESTIGATION


(DUFFERIN COUNTY) - Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Georgetown resident with impaired driving following a suspicious person call for service.

On August 28, 2025, shortly after 3:30 am, officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in the area of Hawthorne Road in the Town of Mono. Upon arrival, officers located the suspects vehicle and spoke with the male driver. During the interaction, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

Samuel WIGHT, a 30-year-old male, from Georgetown has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.
