(ESPANOLA, ON) - One person is facing impaired-related charges after the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint.
On Friday, July 25, 2025, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Manitoulin OPP received a traffic complaint reporting a vehicle that was swerving in and out of its lane and into oncoming traffic on Highway 17 in the Baldwin Township. Shortly after, police located the vehicle on Centre Street in Espanola and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of further investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, Denys VENNE, 39-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on September 22, 2025.
